A cataract is where the lens that bends light inside of your eye gets cloudy. While this may happen at any age, it is more common as we get older. Cataract may cause symptoms such as blurry vision, glare, and difficulty with night driving. Cataract is treated by surgically removing the cloudy lens and placing a new, clear lens implant. We offer the latest generation of upgraded astigmatism correcting (toric) and presbyopia correcting (multifocal/EDOF) intraocular lenses at the time of cataract surgery for patients who are candidates and would like to reduce dependence on glasses.
This very common condition causes symptoms such as blurry vision, burning, foreign body or gritty sensation, or tearing. A quality tear film is important in not only eye comfort but also maintaining clear vision.
Diabetes can cause damage to the blood vessels in your retina. Depending on the severity, this may lead to blurry vision or even blindness if not properly treated. Treatment with a Retina specialist is indicated if there are certain conditions present from diabetes. We are well equipped at screening for these conditions and appropriately observing or referring for treatment if indicated.
Glaucoma is a disease that damages the optic nerve inside of the eye, which is responsible for transmitting light signals from your eye to your brain to be processed into vision. It has numerous causes and can be related to high pressure inside of the eye. It also can run in families. Glaucoma is a "silent" disease that beings taking vision peripherally, so it usually goes unnoticed in the beginning, but may lead to ongoing permanent vision loss if not properly treated. It cannot be cured, but can be treated and controlled to prevent ongoing vision loss. We are able to screen and treat many forms of glaucoma with drops, laser surgery, and MIGS surgery (at the time of cataract surgery). Surgery with a Glaucoma specialist may sometimes be indicated for very severe glaucoma that is unable to be controlled with other means.
